Smithing guide
This is smithing guide. Here you find all smithing tables (thanks to RuneScape Tips) and all exp info for all items You will also find the newbie guide to smithing. This guide isn't anymore mining guide. This is only smithing guide, and mining guide will be in different place.
What can you do with this skill? With smithing, you can smith weapons and armors. Smithing is also a great way to make money. You can only smith battle gear (swords, armors etc), so you can't smith any tools like pickaxe or hammer (the only exception is nails, which can be made from steel). There are several materials in the game, but what material you can use depends on your smithing skill. Smithing skill is also used to smelt bars from different ores. See mining section for more information about ores. Smithing is also the best way to make money in RuneScape. Although this skill requires a lot of patience, it is worth it. If you get skilled enough, you can probaply even make your own equipment, but it is very unlikely, because at that point, you have already gained so much money that you can buy a lot better stuff, than what you can make.
How to raise this skill? To raise this skill, you can smith items or smelt bars. Both will raise your smithing skill. Only the material of which you smith, effects how much you gain experience. How hard the item is make, doesn't effect at all. What I mean, is that you gain same amount of experience by smithing five daggers, as by smithing 1 plate mail, because dagger takes one 1 bar to smith, and plate mail takes 5 bars to smith.
Where to start? Well it would be good that you have a lot of ores in your bank account before you strart smithing. When you start, I suggest that you go to Falador, and turn all your ores into bars in there, because the furnace is so close to the bank. After you have turned all your ores into bars, go to Varrock an smith them into items and then sell them.
What to do where to do? You can find furnaces
from the world map. The icon is
. So look for that
icon for furnaces, and anvils at this icon
. You only need
certain ores to turn them into bars at furnaces, but when
smithing, you need to have hammer in your inventory to smith
items. To smelt ores, use one of the required ores in furnace,
and it will automatically use the rest of the required ores. You
can't smelt the ore if you don't have other required ores to
smelt the ore, or the required skill level. At beginning you can
only smith and smelt bronze. You need 1 copper and 1 tin to gain
1 bronze bar. To smith items, you must have hammer in your
inventory and then use bar into anvil. A menu will come to upper
left corner, where you can choose what you want to smith. Note
that you can only smith items, if you have required smithing
skill level. You can never fail in smelting or smithing, with
exception of iron. Sometimes when you smelt iron it says
"the iron is too impure to smelt". This is because the
iron doesn't have 100% of success rate of smelting. According to
other tip site, the success rate is 50%, but from my own
experiences, it is something like 60% (almost everytime I get
more than half of the ores smelted into bars).

Any advanced tips? Magic is important for smither. There ar some important spells like teleport spells, superheat ore and alchemy spells. With teleport spells you can quickly go from Falador to Varrock to smith your ores you just smelted. Or just teleport from mining site to furnaces and anvils. Superheat ore is very important spell, with that you can turn ores into bars like the furnace does. Using that spell you could be all the time in dwarwen mine and turn ores into bars with spell and smith it with the anvils in there. With alchemy spells, you could also turn items into money, which means you could also turn the smithed items in there to gold (and as far as I know, using the high level alchemy gives more money than general store). If you are smithing for money, You should always make items that have highest price per bar sell price, because they give you most money
What are item sets? People are
talking a lot about sets of items, but what are they? Well set
contains several items of one type of material. The items that a
set contains are Battle axe, Kite shield, Plate mal body, Plate
leggins and Large helmet. Sets are made from 16 bars, so if you
ask someone to make a set to you, make sure you have 16 bars with
you.
Requirement tables:
On this table is explined what ores do you need to make
certain bars. The Skill means how much smithing
skill is required to make that bar. Next comes the required ores.
the # Means how many of the ore is required. The
smelt exp means, how much esperience do you gain
by smelting the ores into that bar. The smithing exp
means how much you gain experience you gain by smithing one bar
of that type into item.

Bar product table:
On this table is some more info about bars on generally.
The skill, smelt exp and Smith
exp means the same things as above. The avrg
sell means how much you gain average from bar by
smithing it into item and selling the item at top price. The
average is calculated by following way: Sum of all items' price
per bars is diveded by 15 (number of different items). The avrg.
buy is almost same, except it is calculated from the
price per bar when buying the items. Set sell
means how much does money you gain by selling set of items made
from that material into shop. Set includes, battle axe, kite
shield, plate body, plate legs and large helmet. The price ber
par comes from the bars average price times 16 (the number of
bars reuired for a set). Set buy means same as
set sell, except that the prices are talen from buy prices.

Where to sell different things: Places where to sell the item is the closest place to Varrock where you get the best money by selling it there. Note that skort shop, where you can sell skirts is just below the leggin shop, so it is not noted. Also, Champions guild has two shopkeepers, which buy different things. Both re marked as champions guild. To see the locations on map click here.
